Supporting Communities

Established in 2013, Wayward Homes Inc has been committed to providing people with real-time job skills through volunteer work and fundraising. We also provide housing accommodations in one of our units or through referrals with our affiliates.

Summer Food Service Program

We established this program to ensure that minors continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Our organization partners up with the GA Department of Early Learnings Happy Helpings to bridge the gap where food insecurities exist.

Together, we are responsible for providing thousands of meals every summer or when there is a school outage. We have feeding sites throughout the Atlanta area and the surrounding areas where meals are served.

Why Choose Our Program?

Our sites are placed in communities where children can receive meals in a safe and supervised environment. Sites may be located in a variety of settings, including:

  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Community Centers
  • Health Clinics
  • Hospitals
  • Apartment Complexes
  • Churches
  • Migrant Centers

Peer Counseling

These peer support programs allow those who have achieved significant recovery to assist others in their journeys. Peer specialists model recovery, teach skills, and support those with mental health challenges to lead meaningful lives.

These people can help promote recovery, enhance hope, and social networking through role modeling and activation. They can supplement existing treatment with education, empowerment, and aid in system navigation.

What Makes a Peer Supporter?

Peer supporters use their experience of recovery from mental health disorders to support others in recovery. Combined with skills learned in formal training, their experience and knowledge put them in a unique position to offer support.

Although they go by many names, like peer support specialists or recovery coaches, the goal is to be a model for recovery and share their knowledge. Peer specialists can provide that understanding when many people feel alienated and hopeless.

However, peer supporters are more than just people who have been there. They can be in various settings, including hospitals, drop-in centers, and prisons. These specialists can work in a wide range of roles, such as:

  • Case Management
  • Wellness Coaching
  • Education
  • Active Participants in a Full Range of Clinical Settings.
